The Big Sad

The Big Sad uses altered archival photographs to visualize depression as an atmosphere rather than an event. Familiar images are disrupted to reflect how depressive states distort memory and perception, creating a gravitational force that slowly overtakes the subject’s sense of self, flattening individuality into heaviness and absence.
